Bottleneck Instability Profiler
Profile constraint-asset variability across conditions
Reference implementation. Industrial use requires validation on plant-specific data. Metrics are from open evaluation splits, not customer plants.
Intended use
Characterizing how the constraint asset's rate varies across products, grades, shifts, and conditions, and which factors drive the variance.
Inputs & outputs
Inputs
Bottleneck rate history, product and grade mix, shift records
Output
Instability score with driver decomposition
Training data & evaluation
Training-data classification
Synthetic constraint-rate histories with condition covariates.
Evaluation approach
Variance-explained (R²) of the driver decomposition on a held-out split.
R² 0.81· open split
Industrial relevance
Applies across Metals, Battery Materials. The value is highest where the affected asset is a constraint and additional output can be monetized.
Limitations
- The true constraint must be correctly identified first.
- Confounded conditions can blur driver attribution.
